Threshing Barn, Cumbria

About Project

This new house is an example of a modern softwood timber framed building, with the structure exposed internally. The visible steel plates (in lieu of traditional pegged joints) allow the collar ties to be considerably higher, and therefore the first floor roof space is used to its maximum potential. Extra space was gained by cutting into the sloping ground and installing retaining walls.
