The Bird Hide was designed during the 2011 Prince’s Foundation Summer School and built during the ‘Live Build’ which forms part of the Building Craft Apprenticeship programme. Jonny worked with fellow students and master craftspeople to construct this green oak framed bird hide which stands above the Llangorse lake. The roof is covered with Pembrokeshire water reed thatch grown by master thatcher Alan Jones. Sourcing thatch that has been grown in similar climatic conditions to the building it is used on ensures longevity.
The raised structure provides beautiful views across the lake and the ramped boardwalk allows access when the area floods in the winter months.
