For the past two month Ben Collyns and myself have been working on an octagonal thatched summerhouse. Ben designed a challenging structure to construct, but the challenge was very enjoyable. The structure is made out of larch with cedar decking and benches. The thatch is Austrian water reed with a combed wheat ridge.
The structure will be used for entertainment and contemplation. It has a very calming feel to it. I hope the clients get as much pleasure using the structure, as we did building it.
Ben is a thatcher from Somerset, he works in combed wheat and water reed. Ben was also a building craft apprentice with the Princes Foundation. He can be contacted on 07874191175
