On Friday 20th January 2012 the Llangorse Lake Bird Hide Project was completed. This was a 3 month build incorporating all the skills of the building craft apprentices. It was funded by the Princes Foundation for Building Community.
During the summer school, craft apprentices graduate fellows and international architect students participated in a design charrette, where the winning design would become the built bird hide.
Green oak framing, dry stone walling, stained glass windows, hand forged ironmongery and thatching were all included in the design.
The following pictures are the result of local tradesmen and suppliers, craft apprentices, and architects from the Foundation.
